Music To Grow On seeks an enthusiastic Board Certified-Music Therapist to join the nine therapists that are currently employed. Music To Grow On is a quickly growing Music Therapy private practice in the Sacramento area. Music To Grow On provides services to children with special needs including Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, global delays, visual impairments, seizure disorders, traumatic brain injuries, and much more. Children range in age from 0 to 22 with a majority of children under the age of 5. Music To Grow On holds contracts with several school districts, a California Regional Center early intervention service agency, and also provides services through private pay. Services are provided on an individual basis to each child. Music To Grow On is also providing group services to Land Park Academy, a school for children with Autism within each of their eight classrooms and Bowling Green Charter School, a school for children with orthopedic challenges in four of their classrooms. Music To Grow On is a National Roster Internship site therefore the therapists also are interacting and working with interns on a regular basis.
REQUIRED DEGREE/CREDENTIALS: Applicants must have completed a Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy and hold MT-BC status or will complete the exam prior to employment. Applicants are also encouraged to have completed the Neurologic Music Therapy Training Course.
DUTIES: Duties include completing assessments, quarterlies, and discharges for children on the caseload and conducting weekly sessions for each client. Attendance of Individual Education Plan meetings, Individual Family Service Plan meetings, and Planning Team meetings as necessary is required. Therapists must communicate and work with various individuals of treatment teams including parents, Service Coordinators/Program Specialists, and other service providers. A typical caseload is approximately 25 clients. Therapists hold a full time position with a 40 hour work week. Sessions are conducted both in clinic and in home. Therapists are responsible for setting their schedules and transportation to in-home appointments. Therapists must have reliable transportation. Other responsibilities include participation in community events to promote Music Therapy and Music To Grow On. Therapists must be willing to work with and co-treat with interns.
SALARY: Therapists start at $22.50 per hour. After completion of three months probation, therapists qualify for health benefits. After one year, a therapist will be placed on salary. Each additional year the therapist receives a 5% pay increase. Therapists are reimbursed for the mileage accrued during travel to clients’ homes.

Our dementia program is specifically designed to care for residents with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.
Responsible for the coordination of activities in delivering quality care appropriate to meet physical, emotional, spiritual, and recreational needs of dementia residents. This includes all activities of daily living (ADL's), plus activities designed to increase environmental stimulation and maintain the highest cognitive function of dementia residents.
Establishes and communicates the program goals to team members, families, and staff. With the team, integrates the routine ADL's with recreational activities and special events to create a unique atmosphere of caring appropriate to the residents. Insures that the team delivers the program in a cohesive and well coordinated manner.
Monitors performance of volunteers and aides from other departments to insure quality of programs and care delivery and consistency with program goals. Participates in hiring and developing high quality team members who excel in delivering the program. Trains team members on specific skills necessary to successfully deliver the program. Seeks and engages outside resources when necessary to deliver additional training designed to improve team skills and performance.
Participates in documentation and evaluation of care received by residents in conjunction with relevant nursing/social service/activity staff. Communicates clearly with residents, families, and all team members to ensure the highest quality of care. Treats residents and their families with respect and dignity.
High school diploma or equiv. required. Some college education/classes in the field of human services/elder care and/or an activity director certificate preferred.
