Job title:            Associate Faculty (1.0 FTE)

Classification:   Exempt

Purpose of Position:  To coordinate the practicum portion of the music therapy degree program, teach program courses, and assist with advising and administrative duties.

Essential Functions
     1.  Provides coordination of clinical education for music therapy majors, including: developing, assessing and reviewing clinical sites; communicating with the site personnel regarding questions or concerns; and drafting contracts or agreements.
     2.  Selects students appropriate for practicum sites.  Provides both on-site and off-site advising and supervision of their progress. Provides student evaluation reports and assists students with practicum presentations.
     3.  Provides training, support and supervision for the MT-BC supervisors.
     4.  Teaches 12 on-load credits of music therapy courses annually, including Practicum Seminar, Introduction to Music Therapy and others as needed.
     5.  Support the development of music therapy majors' musicianship by attending student recitals and ensemble concerts, auditions and juries.
     6.  Collaborates with the program director and department chair with administrative duties for the department, including program assessment and university service.
     7.  Shares music therapy student advising responsibilities with program director.
     8.  Stays current in music therapy by pursuing appropriate professional development activities.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
     1.  Completed Masters of Music Therapy (M.M.T.) or equivalent.
     2.  Five years clinical experience.
     3.  Board Certified Music Therapist required.
     4.  Two years teaching experience in music therapy or related field at the college level.
     5.  Experience with mentoring and advising students.
     6.  Understanding of, and appreciation for, a student-centered learning environment within a liberal arts institution.
     7.  Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. 

Position Hours:  This is a 12-month full-time position (1.0 FTE).

Job title:   Music Therapist
Hours: 35-40 hours per week (Monday-Friday)
Salary:  Competitive (based on qualifications) with benefits

Facility:           Children’s Cancer Association – Non-profit organization’s Music Rx program provides free therapeutic music services to four local children's hospitals, one long-term care facility for medically fragile children.

Location:       Portland, Oregon/Vancouver, Washington

Qualifications: MT-BC (if not board certified, must obtain certification within 6 months of hire date)

Population:      Pediatrics, bereavement

Starting Date:  May/June 2010

Description of position: Provide individual and group therapeutic music services to hospitalized children and their families.  Duties will also include volunteer and data management; project research and development; presentations/in-services; management support of Music Rx equipment inventory.  Successful candidate must be able to operate independently and carry out a variety of program management tasks without supervision.  Must be professional, organized, flexible, and have the ability to work well with a variety of staff, hospital personnel, volunteers, musicians, patients
and families.
