United Cerebral Palsy of South Puget Sound, located in Tacoma, Washington, is seeking a MT-BC to provide music therapy services for children and adults with special needs, as well as facilitate an established adult therapeutic music recreation program. Salary for the 20 hour per week position is $25-30 per hour depending on experience. The program is unique to the area and interest is high, so we expect the caseload will grow rapidly. The program focuses on adults and children with developmental disabilities and/or neurological impairments, and we are expanding our services to include geriatric clients in residential centers. The incumbent will schedule clients, conduct assessments, provide music therapy, document treatment plans and progress notes an! d manage client billing. In addition, the incumbent will assist in referral development and grant writing.

Applicant must have completed a BA degree in Music Therapy and hold MT-BC status or complete the exam prior to employment. Experience working with developmentally disabled children and adults is desired. Position requires reliable transportation. Immediate opening.

I am working with a young family stationed in Bremerton who has a soon to be three year old with autism. Mom is very interested in getting her son into music therapy. I work with Washington PAVE, a non-profit Parent Training and Information Center and we try to link families with any resources that can benefit their children with disabilities.
