Student Songwriting Contest

The student songwriting contest is held at the discretion of the local committee each year. The local conference committee is responsible for determining the evaluating criteria (for example, melody, harmony, adherence to a theme).

Students who are attending a Western Region school or conducting their internship in the Western Region AND  who are current AMTA student members may participate in the contest. Entries must be an original composition and must include a chord sheet with lyrics and an mp3 of the recording. All submissions are electronic and must be sent to the Conference Chair: conference1@wramta.org.

The winner of the contest earns full tuition for an AMTA Student-Membership for the following year.

The local committee has selected the following theme and criteria for the 2015 song-writing contest:

Theme: Communicate the benefits of AMTA Membership

Evaluation Criteria:

Relatedness to theme (10 points)
Musicality (10 points)
Performance as demonstrated on recording (10 points)

Submissions must be received March 7, 2015.
